Program Description:
This presentation will explore Assisted Reproduction Technology
(ART) and family formation issues in the context of family law. In particular,
the presentation will provide an overview of the various kinds of contracts that
get drafted in these matters and challenges that currently exist in Minnesota
regarding the process of establishing legal parentage in ARTS cases. Of
particular interest to family law practitioners, whether you do assisted
reproduction work or not, will be how genetic material should be addressed in
your divorce decrees and the impact of the assisted reproduction process on
custody and parenting time disputes, especially for our same-sex
clients.
