Trial Books CLE: Trial Books is a new practicelaw resource. Members provide a complete collection of successful trial documents, from "complaint
to closing argument." These documents are then introduced
in our Trial Books CLE series. In this presentation, Tim Baland and Samuel Spaid will cover the basics of
an eviction proceeding. Join us in the Apex
Conference training room on the ground floor of the City Center Building (first floor
below the MSBA Offices).

Presenters:
Tim Baland is a longtime MSBA member, a frequent
presenter, and valued contributor to the MSBA's SoloSmall online
community. He practices in the areas of evictions and landlord-tenant law,
bankruptcy, collections, probate and estate planning. He also handles
unemployment appeals and cases involving other government benefits and Social
Security disability.Samuel Spaid is staff attorney and the
Research Director at HOME Line. A graduate of the University of St. Thomas
School of Law, he worked with HOME Line since 2009. He advises more than 1,500
tenants a year and represents tenants at all levels of state court. He helps
train and supervise HOME Line volunteers, regularly gives presentations about
landlord-tenant law to a variety of groups, including law students, attorneys,
and landlords, and assists with managing HOME Line’s tenant hotline database.
Samuel was also the project manager and co-author of The Landlord’s Guide to
Minnesota Law.
