Deadline to Register: January 15, 2019
This program is co-sponsored by the International
Business Law Section and the Probate and Trust Law Section.
Lunch will be provided. Registration will begin
at 11:30 am. The program will begin at noon.
This CLE presents a unique opportunity to
learn directly from an experienced international tax attorney about U.S.
international tax reporting requirements concerning foreign inheritance -
a topic of foremost significance to a U.S. taxpayer who has a foreign-born
spouse, foreign parents and/or any other foreign relatives. Moreover, it
is very important for lawyers who work with such taxpayers (particularly,
business, estate planning, immigration and trust lawyers) to be able to timely
identify and alert their clients about their potential U.S. tax compliance
obligations related to a foreign inheritance.
During the seminar, the speaker will define
the concept of foreign inheritance, analyze its timing issues, explain the most
important U.S. tax reporting requirements concerning foreign inheritance and
identify the common tax traps that may lead to a penalty assessment by the
IRS. The CLE will also broadly cover the main U.S. tax compliance
requirements concerning a foreign business inheritance and an acquisition of a
beneficiary interest in a foreign trust.
Presenter:
Eugene Sherayzen , Esq., is the founder and owner of
Sherayzen Law Office, Ltd. (http://sherayzenlaw.com) - a law firm that
specializes in U.S. tax compliance for US tax residents and foreign persons.
