Governor Walz Appoints Jane Maschka to Fill Fourth Judicial District Vacancy
[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan today announced the appointment of Jane Maschka as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Fourth Judicial District. Maschka will be replacing the Honorable James A. Moore and will be chambered in Minneapolis in Hennepin County.
“I am honored to appoint Jane Maschka to the Fourth Judicial District,” said Governor Walz. “Her extensive background handling complex civil litigation matters, combined with her dedication to serving her community, will make her a great addition to the bench.”
“Jane Maschka is a proven leader who has excelled at every level of the legal profession,” said Lieutenant Governor Flanagan. “She is a brilliant lawyer whose unique skill set will allow her to hit the ground running and tackle the variety of cases and challenges faced by our judiciary.”
Minnesota’s Fourth Judicial District encompasses Hennepin County.
About Jane Maschka:
Jane Maschka is a partner at Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP, where she leads the firm’s financial litigation team and represents clients in complex matters involving fraud and insolvency. She was previously a law clerk for the Honorable R. Lanier Anderson III on the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and an associate attorney at WilmerHale in Washington, D.C. Maschka’s community involvement includes serving on the board of Youthlink, volunteering as a graduation coach for AchieveMSP, and serving as a mock trial judge. Her community involvement has also included providing pro bono representation for the Tubman Safety Project and volunteering with Hennepin County’s Legal Access Point Clinic. She earned her B.A. from the University of Virginia and her J.D. from Harvard Law School.
