Governor Walz Reappoints the Honorable Jane N. Bowman to the Minnesota Tax Court
[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor
Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan today announced the
reappointment of the Honorable Jane N. Bowman as a Judge of the
Minnesota Tax Court for a six-year term.
“It is my privilege to reappoint Chief Judge Bowman to the Minnesota Tax Court,” said Governor Walz.
“She is a thoughtful and effective leader who has demonstrated
dedication to the equitable administration of justice. I look forward to
her continued service in this important position.”
“Chief Judge Bowman is a true public servant who has dedicated her career to ensuring our laws are administered fairly,” said Lieutenant Governor Flanagan. “She will be a tremendous asset on this court for years to come, and I applaud her reappointment.”
The
Honorable Jane Bowman serves as the Chief Judge of the Minnesota Tax
Court. Governor Walz initially appointed her to the tax court in 2019,
and she became Chief Judge in 2022. Before joining the tax court, she
was an assistant Hennepin County attorney, specializing in civil
practice and representing assessors in defense of property values in tax
court and the Hennepin County Public Works Department in eminent domain
proceedings. Chief Judge Bowman is a member of the Minnesota Supreme
Court Advisory Committee on the Minnesota Rules of Civil Procedure and
the author of various publications on foreclosure legal defenses. She earned her B.A. from Macalester College and her J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law.
The
Minnesota Tax Court is an executive branch court established by the
Minnesota Legislature to hear and consider tax-related cases.
