Diversity and Inclusion
What diversity and inclusion goals did the Section include in the 2020-2021 work plan, how did you approach these goals, and what was the result?
The Diversity and Outreach Committee conducted its annual review of the section diversity plan. The committee attempted to address diversity goals by actively partnering with the local law schools and recruiting recent graduates for the section and to take an active role on the sections committees. Planning for a book club, with a focus on the intersection of real property law and systemic racism, is underway.
Results were not satisfactory and different approaches are being explored.
Other Section Accomplishments
The section again provided significant input to the legislature, most significantly aiding in the drafting of the bill that clarified the tolling statute passed in the previous legislative session.
The Real Estate Pro Bono Project continues to be developed and expanded as additional volunteers are recruited.
