2022-2023 Section Focus:

As stated by Council member Janna Borgheiinck- this past bar year, the Greater MN Practice Section has been focused on “identifying barriers that students and young attorneys face in choosing to practice in rural areas, and what we may be able to do to help overcome some of these barriers. Among these are simply knowing of and connecting to the opportunities already available. To help address this, we have started to revive a list of Greater Minnesota Practitioners who are willing to talk with and mentor students and newer attorneys who express interest in practicing in Greater Minnesota. We are in the primitive stages and know what we will create will not be a magical solution. The judicial branch is currently creating buzz around the benefits of clerkships in Greater Minnesota, and we hope to link the two initiatives where possible to show sustainability for those who are interested in continuing to practice in Greater MN.”
