annual meeting and elections at 11:30 am, the CLE presentation will follow at
12:00 pm.
ChatGPT, GPT-4 and other Large Language Models (LLMs) are
poised to transform the legal profession. And rapidly: GPT-4 not only passed the
bar exam, it beat 90% of humans. This discussion will be led by Damien Riehl, as
well as Professors Jon Choi and Daniel Schwarcz, who have conducted studies on
GPT's performance on law-school exams. In this presentation and round table,
we'll discuss:
HOW DOES IT WORK?
How LLMs like ChatGPT are able to create human-like
output.
SUBSTANTIVE LAW: How is AI changing the Practice
of Law?
o Legal advice (e.g., "Describe the legal pitfalls in
___.")
o Drafting briefs (e.g., "Draft a motion to dismiss for breach of
contract in the District of Minnesota, using the breach-of-contract laws of New
York.")
o Creating counterarguments + factual assertions (e.g., "Take
this table of contents from a motion to dismiss, and create counterarguments,
legal elements, and facts to prove those legal elements.")
o Summarizing
evidence (hundreds, thousands, or millions of pages) in
seconds.
o Providing accurate citations (caselaw, statutory,
evidentiary) to all of the above — in seconds
