A Marvel-ous Copyright War

Event Description

Register By: June 15

Disney has been fighting for years to protect its intellectual property interests. Perhaps its most memorable effort to protect the rights to its content and creations was to pursue the Copyright Term Extension Act of 1998, colloquially referred to as the Mickey Mouse Protection Act. Disney’s rampant acquisition of other properties, including Star Wars, Marvel, the Simpsons, and more has brought more characters and more disputes into the fold. This one-hour CLE will cover basics of copyright protection, acquisition of copyrights and termination rights of creators through the lens of recent high-profile disputes concerning Disney’s various properties.
