9:00 - 10:30 am - Jury Trials During Covid  
A panel of lawyers who tried criminal cases in state and federal court during Covid-19 lockdowns discuss their experience—what worked and what did not.

Andrew Mohring will summarize requirements for filing for compassionate release for federal prisoners.

1:45 - 4:00 pm - Federal/State Criminal Law Issues (with 15 minute break)

Dan Scott will summarize Federal and State criminal law and procedure issues in preparation for the 2021 criminal law specialist certification examination.  Minnesota State Rules of Criminal Procedure and Federal Rules of Criminal Procedure, ethical rules that directly impact criminal law, constitutional requirements for effective assistance of counsel,  Sentencing Guidelines,  and case law impacting criminal trials will be discussed.

Want more information about the Certified Specialist program?  The next Criminal Law Certified Specialist exam is scheduled for March 6.

MSBA Certified Specialists: $50.00  (use SPECIAL21 during checkout for discount)
MSBA Members (not certified specialists): $100.00
Non-MSBA Members: $150.00
