Join a panel of specialists working in EDI (Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion), Recruiting, and Professional Development to discuss strategies for inclusion, retention, and recruiting in the pandemic. In particular, the panelists will cover historical trends in the legal industry during a crisis, what happens as legal professionals start to return to work, identifying and overcoming biases that could emerge during the pandemic, inclusion and engagement strategies for everyone in the office or working from home, and more. One elimination of bias credit has been applied for and is pending.

Panelists:

Adam Brown | Director of Professional Development, Cousineau, Waldhauser & Kieselbach

Adam Brown is an attorney and the director of professional development at Cousineau, Waldhauser & Kieselbach. Adam handles workers’ compensation and insurance defense matters, and he provides individual coaching, training, and professional development advice and guidance for the firm.  Prior to starting at the firm, Adam was the assistant director of career and professional development at the University of St. Thomas School of Law, and he managed the externship program. Adam is continuing to teach the advanced externship course at St. Thomas Law.

Josephine DeAngelo | Recruiting Assistant, Dorsey & Whitney LLP

Josephine is the Recruiting Assistant at Dorsey & Whitney LLP. She supports Lateral Partner, Lateral Associate, New Associate and Summer Associate hiring. Dorsey’s recruiting team encourages and integrates diverse hiring practices at all levels. Dorsey is also a member of the Minnesota Legal Career Professionals (MnLCP), for which Josephine is on the board as the Diversity Liaison.

Ann Jenrette-Thomas  | Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, Stinson LLP

Ann collaborates with firm leadership to identify strategies to achieve the firm's goals when it comes to hiring, retaining and advancing diverse attorneys and staff and supporting our client's diversity and inclusion efforts. Ann oversees the implementation of the firm's Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, taking an innovative approach when it comes to addressing challenges within the firm and the profession relating to diversity and inclusion.

Summra Shariff | Executive Director, Twin Cities Diversity in Practice

When she is not walking on frozen lakes, cooking spicy food, and spoiling her niece, Summra serves as the Executive Director and President of Twin Cities Diversity in Practice (TCDIP). Since taking on the position in 2018, Summra has built on the organization’s past successes by re-energizing and revamping programming at all levels to maximize TCDIP’s ability to attract, recruit, advance, and retain attorneys of color in the Twin Cities.
