Today’s legal researcher has access to new analytics and artificially-intelligent tools. We’ll review some of the basics in this new environment. Do attorneys still need to know basic Boolean? (Hint: Yes! But, we’ll review where it’s best to use Boolean and basic principles you may apply on any system). We’ll also take a look at new tools from Casetext’s CARA, Westlaw, Fastcase, and more.

In this seminar we'll take a look at advanced legal research techniques and consider work that typically falls outside our conventional understanding of 'legal research' but which nevertheless represents common legal research needs. For example, we'll review the following:

• Analytical tools
• Business and industry research
• Regulatory materials
• Legislative history
• Alerts and current awareness
• Hidden treasures: free research tools you should know about

CLE: One standard credit will be applied for.
