Cheryl Dalby Chosen to Lead Combined Staff of Minnesota Bars

NEWS RELEASE: November 28, 2018

Minneapolis— The Minnesota State Bar Association, Hennepin County Bar Association and Ramsey County Bar Association are pleased to announce that Cheryl Dalby has accepted the role of Chief Executive Officer of the three associations. The boards of directors of the associations decided in June 2018 to adopt a shared staff model to better coordinate efforts, increase efficiencies and improve member value. While each association will maintain its separate identity and legal independence, the single staff, led by the Chief Executive Officer, will provide services to all three.

After completing a nationwide search for the leader of the newly combined staff, a committee composed of members of the MSBA, HCBA, and RCBA recommended Dalby, and the boards of each organization approved the recommendation.

Dalby has served as Executive Director of the Ramsey County Bar Association in St. Paul for the past 18 years. “I am thrilled to lead the bar associations into a collaborative future,” said Dalby. “And I am pleased that Susie Brown, current Executive Director of the Hennepin County Bar Association, has agreed to accept the position of Chief Operating Officer and will work with me in leading the three associations.”

Current MSBA Executive Director Tim Groshens will retire after more than three decades leading the association.
