About the Minnesota Attorney General's Office

Pro Bono/Community Involvement

The Attorney General's Office is a public law office serving the State of Minnesota and its citizens. Our office has a pro-bono committee and support attorneys/employees wishing to explore this work.

Summer Associate/Clerkship Description

Summer Law Clerks work directly with Assistant Attorneys General across all divisions of the Office, and gain hands-on experience reviewing documents, researching legal issues, drafting written product, and appearing in court. This position allows law students to develop professional skills and expand their knowledge while performing meaningful and challenging work on a wide variety of issues. We require our law clerks to assume a significant amount of responsibility over their files and put forth the very best work on behalf of the public.


Successful Candidate Qualities

Current student in good standing with an accredited law school

Strong academic credentials

Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills 

Ability to adapt in an inclusive, creative, and collaborative work environment and show excellent judgement, character, and work ethic


Summer Clerkship Salary and Benefits

$20 per hour, 12-20 hours per week. Position eligible for hybrid work environment.
