Presenters:
Amy Mahowald joined the Minnesota Office of Lawyers
Professional Responsibility in August 2015 as an Assistant Director. As an
Assistant Director at the OLPR, Ms. Mahowald is responsible for investigating
and prosecuting allegations of lawyer misconduct and enforcing the Minnesota
Rules of Professional Conduct. Ms. Mahowald received her B.S. from the United
States Military Academy at West Point. She was commissioned as a Second
Lieutenant and served in the United States Army from 2004 to 2009. She deployed
as a platoon leader to Iraq in 2006 and in 2008 worked for the United States
Corps of Engineers in Kuwait. Upon returning to Minnesota after active duty, Ms.
Mahowald joined the Minnesota National Guard. She commanded the Headquarters and
Headquarters Support Company, 84th Troop Command in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Ms. Mahowald received her J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law in 2012.
After admission to the Minnesota Bar, she worked as an associate attorney at a
Twin Cities law firm representing employers and insurers in workers’
compensation administrative proceedings.
Megan Engelhardt is a Senior Assistant Director with
the Minnesota Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility. Ms. Engelhardt has
worked for the Minnesota Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility since
2007. Her responsibilities include the investigation and prosecution of
complaints of unprofessional conduct against Minnesota lawyers, recommending
file dispositions to Director, screening of complaints received by Director,
providing advisory opinions, and drafting briefs, admonitions, panel and Supreme
Court pleadings. Ms. Engelhardt received her B.A. from Michigan State University
in 2000 and her J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law in 2003. Before coming
to the OLPR, Ms. Engelhardt clerked for the Honorable Mark A. Munger in Duluth,
Minnesota and then was a staff attorney for Indian Legal Assistance in Duluth,
Minnesota where she provided representation to low-income clients in criminal,
child protection, and family matters.
