This
program is part of an ongoing series that addresses how lawyers and ADR neutrals can
more effectively represent and interact with
clients and mediation participants who come
from diverse cultural backgrounds. This program will focus on mediations involving Native
Americans.
Frank Bibeau is a Native American attorney from Ball
Club, MN. Frank has represented the Leech Lake Band and most recently is
working with Honor the
Earth
regarding their campaign against
oil pipelines and their impact on Native lands. Frank
will discuss various cultural aspects of mediations/negotiations
involving Native American individuals.
Marilyn McKnight and
Steve Erickson will discuss a special mediation project
they have been working on involving Native American Families and Family Law in
Wisconsin.
James McGill will moderate the
discussion and share his experiences from mediations he has
been involved in where one or more of the parties were Native
American.
A brief section business meeting will be
held at Noon followed immediately by the CLE presentation from 12:15-1:15
p.m.
Lunch is not provided but please feel free to bring your own! Soft drinks and bottled
