Tips for Being an Effective Attorney in SENE

This CLE explores the different phases of an SENE for an attorney from preparation to evaluation to mediation and focuses on how to navigate those phases effectively and successfully.

Presenters:

Susan Stevens Chambers, J.D. 

Susan Stevens Chambers received her JD from Loyola School of Law Chicago in 1979, and has concentrated on family law throughout the past 39 years.  She served as a Family Court Referee in Mankato, Minnesota for five years.  She currently has a full time ADR practice and has trained team members and judicial officers for the ENE process for the past five years.

James Goetz, J.D., MSW, MA

James Goetz received master degrees in both social work and rehabilitation psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and later obtained a law degree from Willian Mitchell College of Law. Jim was a child, marital and family counselor for 10 years before transitioning to conduct family law mediations and evaluations for Hennepin County Family Court Services for 15 years and now continues to perform ENE’s, custody evaluations, and mediations in private practice along with serving as a Parenting Consultant and a Parenting Time Expeditor. Jim was a part of the group that created the Early Neutral Evaluation Program and has been the primary trainer for ENE.

Katrina Wass, J.D.

Katrina Wass is a family law attorney at the Pemberton Law Firm in Fergus Falls. She has practiced law for nearly 15 years and specialized solely in family law for more than 10 years. Katrina was a member of the steering committee that established the ENE process in Otter Tail and Clay Counties in 2012.  In addition to advocacy work, Katrina conducts evaluations and mediations.
