Chris Soper and Ben Nicolet discuss various parent/child cosigner and
discharge issues including obligations for repayment of student loans, costs of
a child’s juvenile detention, liabilities incurred through child’s tortious
acts, and fraudulent transfers involving tuition and wedding
payments.
Presenter:
Chris Soper is the Legal Writing Director and an Assistant
Clinical Professor of Law at the University of Minnesota Law School. He is also
Of Counsel in the Restructuring, Insolvency and Bankruptcy group at Dentons.
Ben Nicolet is a third-year law student at the University of
Minnesota Law School; Juris Doctor expected May 2017. He earned his B.S. at the
University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire. Upon earning his J.D., he plans to
practice bankruptcy, personal injury, and property law.
