Deadline to Register: January 30,
2017
In recent years, many cities and states across the country
have passed employment laws addressing matters such as paid sick leave, paid
family leave, minimum wage requirements, restrictions on requesting criminal
history information from applicants and other matters. Some states have passed
preemption statutes limiting the ability of cities to pass certain laws. This
panel will discuss recently considered and passed local ordinances, including
paid sick leave ordinances scheduled to take effect in Minneapolis and Saint
Paul later this year, and various other topics related to legislating employment
matters in Minnesota at the state and local level.
Lunch will be provided.
