Primer for
attorneys with practices that involve the handling, retention and/or transfer of Personal
Health Information (PHI) and Personally Identifiable Information (PII). Topics covered: HIPAA obligations,
prudent information security practices, handling PHI & PII in
discovery, and data breach preparation and response.

Presenter:
Sean Dunn is the Co-Founder and Primary
Consultant for Orrery Consulting, an ediscovery consulting firm located in
Lowertown, Saint Paul. Prior to founding Orrery, Sean served as a
consultant to Medtronic’s Litigation Department. Over the course of his
15+ years at Medtronic, Sean built Medtronic’s ediscovery solutions and
processes and helped build and manage Medtronic’s eDiscovery Response Team.
Sean provides
litigators and law firms involved in litigation-like practices with attorney
coaching that helps his clients navigate ediscovery-centric areas of their
practice. Sean helps ensure that his clients or their opponents live up
their ediscovery obligations. Sean also provides assistance with the
crafting discovery requests and responses, and with prep and prosecution of
26(f) conferences, 30(b)(6) depositions and like procedural
instruments.
Sean also
provides strategic ediscovery consulting to corporate/complex clients in need of
implementing or improving ediscovery processes/response capabilities. In
addition to managing the implementation or improvement of needed or existing
ediscovery processes, Sean serves as a bridge-builder between Legal and IT
Departments and helps clients configure their IT systems so as to best and
defensibly reduce their downstream ediscovery risks.

his JD from Hamline University in 1994.
