The MSBA's Public Law Section Presents
"Religious Expression in Public and Government Spaces"
This program will focus on recent decisions defining bias against religious expression in public and government spaces and potential related liability for governmental entities. The program includes a constitutional overview of the law defining bias against religious expression which provides important context for any possible regulations. We will focus on how attorneys working with public entities can advise their clients and recognize and avoid bias in regulating public spaces. Speakers will discuss recent cases including Child Evangelism Fellowship of Minnesota v. Minneapolis School District and Brian Johnson v. Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and how these decisions are changing regulation of religious expression and freedom of speech in public spaces.
The 2013 Public Law Section Awards will be presented at the luncheon. Click here to view a list of this year's award recipients.
