The MSBA's Construction Section Presents
"Copyrights for Architectural Works"
This program will cover rights conferred by copyright, elements of a copyright infringement claim, including available damages, common defenses to infringement claims, and contract provisions relating to ownership and use of intellectual property.
On December 9, 2011, Section member Holly Newman will provide a presentation regarding copyright issues for architectural works. Ms. Newman focuses her practice on representing architects and engineers, including defending negligence claims asserted against design professionals and pursuing claims for design professionals against parties who infringe on the copyrighted works of her clients. Ms. Newman was involved in defending an architectural firm in one of the largest architectural works copyright infringement cases, including a jury trial and appeal. Ms. Newman is a 1995 graduate of William Mitchell College of Law. She has been a construction lawyer in the Twin Cities for 14 years.
