An Overview and Hot Topics

All past and future pro bono volunteers are invited to attend a CLE program that is being presented for past pro bono volunteers to thank them for their services.  The program is also available for people willing to become a volunteer.

Rebecca Sluss and Randy Smith will lead a discussion on foreclosure law and the challenges of representing debtors at the intersection of foreclosure and bankruptcy law.  Rebecca and Randy will address issues debtors and non-debtors frequently encounter when their property is in foreclosure.  They will also address issues of foreclosure timelines, housing association liens and post-petition payments.

Teleconferencing is available. Teleconferencing will be available for the CLE. Please indicate that you will attend by teleconference when registering online. Teleconferencing instructions will be e-mailed on Wednesday, July 25.

Agreement to provide future volunteer services on a piecework basis: e.g. a commitment to handle a Chapter 7 filing pro bono; a commitment to staff the Bankruptcy Advice Clinic for two sessions; or a commitment to be on the panel for letter-writing, and to serve as needed, for one year.

Pro Bono Volunteer Reception and Raeder Larson Public Service Award

After the CLE program, please join us for the Pro Bono Volunteer Reception and the presentation of the Raeder Larson Public Service Award, which is presented to individuals who have delivered outstanding service through the support and provision of pro bono legal services in the bankruptcy and debtor-creditor areas.

The reception is a free event, however an RSVP is requested by July 23 for food and beverage planning purposes.
