CLE Filing Fee for Paper Affidavits
The Minnesota Board of Continuing Legal Education has issued a reminder to attorneys that effective July 1, 2010, the Rules of the CLE Board require that a Minnesota lawyer who files a paper affidavit to report the lawyer’s CLE attendance must pay a $10 filing fee.
There is no charge for filing CLE attendance using the CLE Board’s OASIS system. OASIS (Online Attorney Sponsor Integrated System) is a web-based application at www.mbcle.state.mn.us that permits Minnesota lawyers to log onto their individual CLE records, report the courses that they attended during the reporting period, and determine how many, if any, additional credit hours they need to report.
Any Minnesota lawyer who has not yet set up an account on OASIS may request an OASIS invitation letter by calling the CLE office at (651) 297-7100 and pressing 3 or by sending an email to email@example.com. A lawyer who has previously set up an OASIS account, but has forgotten the password, may request the password be sent to the email address registered for their account by using the link on the log-in screen.
Effective July 1, 2010, affidavits of CLE compliance (and all other paper submissions in lieu of the affidavit, such as sponsors’ certificates of attendance) submitted to the board by mail or email without the $10 filing fee will be returned with a request to resubmit with the $10 payment to cover the cost of manual entry. Affidavits and payment must both be received by the filing deadline (August 31, 2010) to avoid payment of the late filing fee.
