2024 Solo and Small Firm Summit

Event Description

The Solo and Small Firm Summit is back! Join your colleagues for a day of in-person only programming and networking designed by (and for) solo and small firm lawyers. Whether you have just come out of law school or stepping away from practice at a larger firm to strike it out on your own, or if you have been at this small-firm thing for a while, this program will offer ideas to improve and expand your practice.

Your registration includes breakfast, lunch, and after event social and will include 5.0 CLE Credits.

This event is a collaborative effort by the MSBA Solo Small Practice Experience Section, MWL Solo and Small Practitioner Group, and RCBA Solo and Small Firm Section. Members of these groups can attend the event at a reduced rate of $55.

8:00-8:30 am | Registration and breakfast

8:30-9:30 am | "Building Community: Managing Isolating and Stress Together." Presented by Patty Beck, President and Owner of A Balanced Practice. 1.0 Standard CLE Credit .

9:45-10:45 am | "By Design - Using the Rules of Typography to Optimize Your Legal Documents." Presented by Ted Roberts, a solo practioner with over 20 years of experience in construction litigation. 1.0 Standard CLE Credit .

11:00-12:00 pm | “Unlocking Value: Transforming Your Solo or Small Firm into a Saleable Asset.” Presented by Kimberly Hanlon, Founder of Lucere Legal. 1.0 Standard CLE Credit .

12:15-1:00 pm | Lunch and Networking

1:00-2:00 pm | Keynote: “Generative AI, ChatGPT, and the Evolving Practice of Law.” Presented by Damien Riehl, vice president at vLex. 1.0 Ethics CLE Credit .

2:00-3:00 pm | “Cannabis Law Update 2024.” Presented by Jason Tarasek, counsel at Vicente LLP. 1.0 Standard CLE Credit.

3:00 pm – 4:00 pm | Social Hour
