Remote Only Event
Mediating consumer cases and related types of disputes require consideration
of certain attributes of such litigation. A panel experienced in mediating
consumer litigation (such as consumer fraud, deceptive practices,
debtor/creditor litigation, and claims under federal and state consumer
protection statutes) will walk through the stages of a mediation. At each
stage, the audience will get the perspective from each side and from the
mediator.
Topics will include:
• Determining the best time for a
mediation in the life cycle of the case;
• Selecting a mediator (what
mediator qualities are most important to address the issues and participants in
consumer cases), what styles work and don’t work;
• Pre-mediation
submissions to the mediator and other preparations for a successful
mediation;
• Determining who should attend the
session;
• Logistical and format issues;
• Best practices for
mediators and attorneys;
• Negotiating strategies for both monetary and
non-monetary components.
