Carefully crafted model
documents and templates represent the best of what you and your firm knows. They
help prevent malpractice, increase profitability and are a primary method for
transferring knowledge to others in your firm. In spite of this, most law
offices do not have a comprehensive set of go-to forms and base documents.
Instead, new documents are most often generated by finding old documents and
modifying them to work for the next client (by either direct modification or
dictation/transcription). However, this approach has a high margin for error and
is much slower than alternative methods. First, we'll show you how to find the
best of what your firm has created in the past. Next, you'll learn the rules for
consolidating your intellectual capital into usable templates. Finally, you'll
see the spectrum of automation options demonstrated from the amazing things your
word processor is already capable of, to commercial form sets like mndocs, to
automating your own documents with document assembly applications like
HotDocs.
