Event Description
Deadline to Register: February 9, 2016
How
can new lawyers maximize their effectiveness in the courtroom to reach the best results for
their clients? This distinguished panel of experienced litigators and a district
court judge will discuss various best practices to keep in mind before, during,
and after a courtroom appearance, that go beyond the mere preparation
of the case and published courtroom rules. Such areas of discussion will
include: understanding the ‘house rules’ and culture of a particular court; maintaining relationships with court staff; preservation and protection of the record; winning at voir dire; educating and, if needed, correcting the court; and more. Throughout the discussion, questions and experiences will be encouraged from the audience.
The New Lawyers Section membership will meet following the CLE at 5:30 pm.
