Dissecting American Broadcasting, Inc v. Aereo, Inc

Event Description

Aereo, Inc. is shaking up the cable and broadcast industry with its “tiny antennae” technology. Broadcasters call it “technological gimmickry” and are suing Aereo in multiple jurisdictions where Aereo has launched. The 2nd Circuit upheld a New York federal district court decision refusing to preliminarily enjoin Aereo from launching the service in New York, over the claim of broadcasters that the service violates federal copyright law. This CLE will review Aereo’s technology, the 2nd Circuit decision, and the underlying federal district court opinion.
