Governor Walz Appoints Rachna Sullivan to Fill Fourth Judicial District Vacancy

ST. PAUL, MN – Today, Governor Tim Walz announced the appointment of Rachna Sullivan as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Fourth Judicial District. Ms. Sullivan will be replacing the Honorable Bruce A. Peterson and will be chambered at Minneapolis in Hennepin County.

“I am honored to appoint Rachna Sullivan as a District Court Judge in the Fourth Judicial District,” said Governor Walz. “She has built a distinguished career at many levels of the judicial system and brings with her a strong sense of fairness and expertise to the Fourth Judicial District.”

“Rachna Sullivan’s story is a story of the American dream and her commitment to public service is her own stated extensions to that,” said Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan. “From her experiences with the Minnesota Chapter Infinity Project and Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid to her volunteer experiences providing meals for those in need, the Fourth Judicial District will be well-served by Ms. Sullivan.”

Minnesota’s Fourth Judicial District consists of Hennepin County.

About Rachna Sullivan:

Ms. Sullivan is a shareholder at Fredrikson & Byron, P.A., where she serves as the lead lawyer in commercial litigation cases. Previously, she was a partner at Rider Bennet LLP, law clerk to the Hon. James M. Rosenbaum, former Chief Judge, U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, and an Assistant District Attorney at the King’s County District Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, New York. Ms. Sullivan is a director of the Minnesota Chapter Infinity Project, a director of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid, and the Co-Chair and Co-Founder of the Leadership Summit on Gender Equity in the Law.  Additionally, Ms. Sullivan volunteers at various organizations, including providing food packages at the Nellie Stone Johnson Elementary School and serving meals at the Church of St. Stephens in Minneapolis.
