Commission on Judicial Selection Recommends Tenth Judicial District Candidates to Governor Walz

 

[ST. PAUL, MN] – The Commission on Judicial Selection announced today that it is recommending three candidates for consideration to fill a vacancy in Minnesota’s Tenth Judicial District. The vacancy occurred upon the retirement of the Honorable Mary A. Yunker. The seat will be chambered in Elk River in Sherburne County.

Jennifer Moreau: Jennifer Moreau is a shareholder at Barna, Guzy & Steffen, where she handles a variety of civil litigation matters, advises clients on employment issues, represents employers in grievance arbitrations, and assists in municipal prosecutions. She was previously a law clerk for the Honorable Robert Varco and the Honorable Mary Yunker in Sherburne County. Moreau’s community involvement includes serving on the boards of the Anoka County Community Action Program and the Rum River Art Center. She is an investigator for the 21st District Ethics Committee, a former president of the Anoka County Bar Association, and a member of the Minnesota Asian Pacific American Bar Association. She is also a member of Minnesota Women Lawyers, where she serves on the Publication Committee and participates in the Student to Attorney Mentoring Program. Moreau also volunteers with the Minnesota State Bar Association mock trial competition and the Tenth Judicial District Law Day program.

Jennifer Peterson: Jennifer Peterson is a senior assistant director at the Office of Lawyers Professional Responsibility, where she investigates and prosecutes ethics complaints against lawyers. She was previously an assistant public defender for Anoka, Chisago, and Sherburne counties in the Tenth Judicial District, an attorney at White & Associates, and an assistant county attorney in Isanti County. Peterson’s community involvement includes volunteering as a big sister in the Big Brother Big Sister program, where she provides guidance and mentorship to youth.

Kristi Stanislawski: Kristi Stanislawski is an attorney at Jovanovich, Dege & Athmann, PA. Her practice includes serving as the lead prosecutor for the cities of Cold Spring, Richmond, Kimball, and St. Stephen, as well as representing private clients in civil and family matters. She previously worked as a staff attorney for Minnesota’s attorney licensing boards, as an associate attorney for Rajkowski Hansmeier Ltd., and as a law clerk for the Honorable Jay Mondry in the Ninth Judicial District. Her community involvement includes serving on Central Minnesota Legal Service’s board of directors, volunteering with the Children’s Law Center, and serving as a volunteer attorney with the Stearns/Benton County Pro Bono Legal Clinic. Stanislawski has served in various leadership roles with the Minnesota Women Lawyers Central Chapter and the Seventh District chapter of the Minnesota State Bar Association. She also serves as a board member on the St. Michael-Albertville Girls Basketball Association’s board of directors and as a coach for the fourth-grade girls traveling team.
