Governor Walz Appoints Amy Lukasavitz to Fill Sixth Judicial District Vacancy

[ST. PAUL, MN] – Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan today announced the appointment of Amy Lukasavitz as District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Sixth Judicial District. Ms. Lukasavitz will be replacing the Honorable Robert E. Macaulay and will be chambered in the City of Carlton in Carlton County.

“I am honored to appoint Amy Lukasavitz to the Sixth Judicial District bench,” said Governor Walz. “Ms. Lukasavitz is an experienced lawyer, whose previous work as a prosecutor and public defender will allow her serve the people of Carlton County well. Ms. Lukasavitz is uniquely prepared to step into this role, and I look forward to seeing all that she will accomplish on the bench.”

“Amy Lukasavitz is a remarkable public servant who will be a tremendous asset to the Sixth Judicial District and Carlton County,” said Lieutenant Governor Flanagan. “Ms. Lukasavitz has a proven track record of working hard to ensure that our justice system treats everyone with the dignity, compassion, and respect they deserve.”

Minnesota’s Sixth Judicial District encompasses Carlton, Cook, Lake, and St. Louis counties.

About Amy Lukasavitz

Ms. Lukasavitz is an Assistant St. Louis County Attorney. Her caseload includes juvenile delinquency, truancy, and estate recovery matters. Ms. Lukasavitz has an extensive background in restorative justice and treatment courts, having served as the first coordinator for the South St. Louis County DWI Court and Family Dependency Treatment Court. She has also been a team member for the South St. Louis County Mental Health Court and Drug Court. Her community involvement includes volunteering with the Crisis Intervention Team, Duluth Playhouse, and the Volunteer Attorney Program. She is an Iron Range native.
