The State Bar Commission on Access to Court Records is being convened to address longstanding issues and recent changes affecting attorney access to court records across the state. The Commission will be co-chaired by recently retired Supreme Court Justice G. Barry Anderson and Minnesota attorney Kelly Keegan.
MSBA President Samuel Edmunds added, “Historically, disparities have existed in access among attorneys, which have been further exacerbated by recent changes within the court software systems. This Commission seeks to comprehensively explore these challenges, identify underlying issues, and propose equitable solutions. The primary goal is to recommend rule changes that ensure consistent and fair access to court records for all attorneys practicing in Minnesota, thereby promoting efficiency and fairness in legal proceedings statewide.”
The MSBA is seeking Qualifications & Interest Statements, along with a resume, by Friday, September 13, 2024, from attorneys across the state who are interested in serving on the Commission. It is expected that the Commission will meet largely via Zoom, and will complete its work within approximately the next six months.
