The MSBA’s voter information website www.votemnjudges.org is live. The MSBA asked the candidates running in contested statewide judicial races to complete a questionnaire and submit a photo; their responses are posted on the website. Information on candidates running in contested district court races is included if the local bar will be conducting a plebiscite—and that information will be expanded if additional local bars decide to hold plebiscites. Please share this resource with your friends, family and colleagues who are seeking information on judicial candidates.
We anticipate sending the statewide plebiscite to our members on August 18. Members who belong to a district bar that is conducting a plebiscite for their local contested judicial races will also see that race on their ballot. (See this month’s President’s Page for more on the MSBA judicial plebiscite.)
The MSBA is also working with the League of Women Voters on a proposed candidate forum for the three statewide contested judicial races: two contested Supreme Court seats, including the chief justice spot, and one contested Minnesota Court of Appeals race. We hope the candidates will choose to participate in the forum. The tentative date is September 18 at 7 pm at Golden Valley City Hall. We will confirm this information in Legal News Digest (LND), our weekly e-newsletter, as soon as we are able. If the forum occurs, it will be live-streamed via CCX Media, and there will be a recording available to watch after the fact.
