Convenient and Current CLE Content

by Joe Kaczrowski | May 28, 2015

As the 2014-2015 Bar year winds down -- or perhaps more accurately crescendos next month with the Annual Meetings throughout the state -- we look back at the more than 250 continuing education programs offered by the MSBA this year, many of which are now available On-Demand as well.

The MSBA is one of many players in the continuing legal education arena. Through its thirty-seven sections and other programs and initiatives, the Association offers hundreds of new programs each year with a variety of topics spanning the entire legal profession. The MSBA's CLE programs range from legislative and case law updates to practice pointers from nationally-renowned speakers to current events and developments in Minnesota law.

Additionally, through programs like the recent Mall of America Protest Cases CLE, the MSBA is working to provide a greater forum for members to discuss and learn more about contemporary and ongoing developments in Minnesota law and the community.

The MSBA's Developing Law Series (also known as the MSBA's On-Demand CLE Program) is designed to offer a convenient and affordable way for attorneys to stay up to speed on the rapidly changing legal profession and satisfy their continuing education requirements. The MSBA's On-Demand program is not intended as a source for basic or survey courses (like Introduction to Estate Planning or Basics of Family Law, for example) but rather a collection of programs focusing on current events and topics that are ripe for discussion.

Beginning July 1 of last year, attorneys in Minnesota can get up to one third of their required CLE credits from on-demand courses (up to 15 credits). The MSBA's Developing Law Series currently consists of more than thirty recorded programs in a number of different practice areas and offering a variety of CLE credits, including ethics and elimination of bias. The Developing Law Series adds a handful of new programs each month, and the On-Demand site includes a list of these "coming soon" programs.

Whether you're in outstate Minnesota (or out-of-state) or just can't get away from your desk for one of the MSBA's lunchtime programs, the On-Demand program offers dozens of programs you can watch when you want, where you want.

Want to check it out? The MSBA is running a promotion through Flag Day where purchases of On-Demand CLEs are fifty percent off. To get 50% off the already low member price of $24.95 ($49.95 for non-members), enter code FLAG1916 during checkout.

If you're reporting this year, you can purchase now and watch your program(s) before or after your reporting date, depending on whether you're still a few credits short or looking to get a jump on your credits for the next reporting period.
