New Judges Speak to 8th District Bar Members

by Joe Kaczrowski | Apr 10, 2015
Earlier this week two new judges introduced themselves to members of the Eighth District Bar Association in Waconia. Judges Tim Looby and Eric Braaten shared some pointers and advice with those in attendance.

Their words of wisdom included if a judge says he or she has read the pleadings don't spend time summarizing them again at oral argument; focus on one (or two) main points you feel the judge needs to address. Another piece of advice is don't interpret the judge's facial expression to mean you need to restate your argument in another way; unless the judge asks, don't feel you need to say the same thing three or four different ways.
