The 2022 Ramsey County Bar Foundation Bench and Bar Benefit took place on November 5, 2022 at the St. Paul Hotel, for the first time in three years due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Attorneys and supporters came together for a lively night of silent and live auctions as well as an exciting fund-a-need. Energy in the room was high as Ramsey County attorneys and supporters reconnected.
Larry McDonough was also honored with the 2022 Pro Bono award for his work in a variety of legal aid settings, including housing justice. In his acceptance speech, McDonough stressed to the crowd that it was possible for everyone to make pro bono work a regular part of their practice. He thanked his family for their support, as well as professors he had in law school who encouraged him to tackle injustice and advance equity in his legal work. McDonough also thanked his high school band teacher, who showed him that the efforts of one person can make a huge difference in many people's lives.
Proceeds from the event went to several charitable legal organizations, including Tubman, Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services, Children's Law Center, and Lawyers Concerned for Lawyers.
