WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO LEARN?

Whether you plan to attend The Elder Law Institute October 19-20th or not, please take a time to check out this year's itinerary. The planning committee assembled great presentations covering emerging issues as well as important basics.

The schedule also happens to include encore presentations of CLEs coordinated by the section's Education Committee in January and April 2015. If you would like to play a role in planning the issues that are studied and taught in CLE seminars during the reminder of the section year, please consider participating in the Education Committee.

Please feel free to contact Education Committee Chair Laura Orr of SMRLS Metro Senior Law Project Laura if you would like to join the committee, participate in a meeting by telephone, or simply share a suggestion about how the section's CLE programming can meet your needs.

FAMILY LAW SECTION OPPOSES PROPOSED PRIVATE DIVORCE SYSTEM

On September 19, 2015, the MSBA Family Law Section voted to oppose House File 1348/Senate File 1367 creating a private system for obtaining a divorce in Minnesota.  The Section intends to request that the MSBA formally oppose this legislation during the 2016 Legislative Session. ARE YOUR MSBA DUES PAID UP TO DATE?

Do you agree that membership in this exclusive group of esteemed colleagues known as the MSBA Elder Bar is a priceless value?  Maybe that is why some of us have not yet paid the MSBA and section dues for the year.  There is in fact a price, and the MSBA has sent a list of deliquent members to our fearless leader.  Rest assured your editor will not be publishing names (yet) ;-).  I am confident that all loyal readers of this newsletter are up to date, but please help our Section Chair out by encouraging/cajoling/pressuring your colleagues to make it right with the MSBA.
