Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
What diversity, equity and inclusion goals did the Section include in the 2020-2021 work plan, how did you approach these goals, and what was the result?

  • Section held annual Careers in Communications Law CLE to connect with law students and let them know about the field of Communications Law. This event was very successful with 38 attendees.
  • Section hosted a facial recognition CLE and reached out to affinity groups to partner as they felt the topic was relevant to affinity bar communities. The Section only received one response from an affinity bar, and they did not choose to co-sponsor, but the MSBA Criminal Law Section did co-sponsor. The CLE was very successful, but the Section will continue to revise how best to partner with other affinity groups.

Other Section Accomplishments

  • We donated $500 each to Connected MN and Minnesota Computers for Schools and held a successful CLE which discussed the cross-section of their work in the community and the work of attorneys in our Section.
  • We donated $300 to the MSBA Mock Trial Program.
  • We surpassed our goal of hosting 7 CLE programs.
