Annual Meeting and Election Results
The Section’s Annual Meeting was held on June 21, 2019 and 20 people attended. 

The following council members were elected to serve on the Section’s Governing Council from 7/1/2019 to 6/30/2020:

Diversity and Inclusion
The Section included and achieved the following goals:

  • Council member attends the MSBA Diversity & Inclusion workshop this fall.
  • Michael Lewis represented the Section at the workshop and reported back on best practices.
  • The Section will invite other sections (New Lawyers, Solo and Small Firm and Greater Minnesota) to co-sponsor events to extend the reach of our section.
  • The Section regularly invited other sections to attend its CLEs. We co-hosted the Scooter Law CLE in April with the New Lawyers Section.

Other Section Accomplishments
Overall it was a successful year for the Communications Law Section.  Our Section met the following goals we set out to accomplish at the beginning of the year:

  • We held the third annual Careers in Communications Law panel discussion in November in conjunction with Mitchell Hamline Law School.
  • We donated $300 to the MSBA Mock Trial Program.
  • We met our goal to host 7 CLEs.
