Annual Meeting and Election Results 
The Section’s Annual Meeting was held on June 5, 2018 and 55 people attended. 

The following council members were elected to serve on the Section’s Governing Council from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2019:

Diversity and Inclusion

Our diversity and inclusion goal was to leverage the local law school contacts that spoke on our diversity/inclusion panel at the 2017 year-end meeting to host a diversity law student event. While we were not able to schedule a law student event this year, we instead focused on diversity and inclusion with our 2018 year-end meeting regarding diversity and inclusion in corporate law departments. While our 2017 efforts focused on law students and the “pipeline” for diversity, this year’s panel focused more on how we can retain diversity by changing certain corporate and law firm practices.


Other Section Accomplishments

Members attended the University of MN Meet the Bar Day through the MSBA. Through this opportunity, section members had the opportunity to “advertise” the practice area and develop interest in younger talent. 

The section sponsored a New Lawyers CLE. With the sponsorship, section members were permitted to attend the post-seminar reception again increasing visibility of the practice area and section.

In an effort to increase section value, the section added a social networking reception to its annual seminar that was well received and attended.
