What Every Corporate Counsel Should Know About Nonprofit Corporate Governance

Event Description

Online registration for this event is closed, please e-mail kkozicky@mnbars.org to register.

Many corporations maintain foundations for charitable giving and ask their corporate counsel to serve as officers, directors, or advisors. Many more corporate counsel serve on nonprofit boards as a community service. In both situations, colleagues may expect the attorneys in their midst to be nonprofit corporate governance experts. But what if you’re not? Nonprofit governance does not entirely mirror for-profit governance, and some unique elements can result in personal liability if not managed effectively. This session will help you become better versed in nonprofit governance—and know when to call experienced nonprofit counsel for assistance.
