Effective Advocate Trial Skills Course

Event Description

Join us for a six session trial skills course beginning with an optional orientation on January 5th. The goal of this program is to practice core the trial advocacy skills of examining witnesses and presenting opening and closing arguments in a simulated trial setting. Course participants will be presented with a detailed set of case facts from which they must prepare presentations in advance of each session. During the sessions, participants will examine a live role playing witness (or do an opening or closing statement) before a 4th district judge and a jury made up of the other participants. After each participant presents, they will be given feedback by the faculty judge and other participants.

This course has limited space available, regular attendance is requested and epected. Materials for the course will be provided to participants in advance. Newer attorneys may want to consider taking the course "Introduction to Evidence" as a pre-requisite to this course but it is not required.
