Event Description
Program:
Last September, the Business Roundtable
published the Statement on the Purpose of a Corporation, which
received a lot of attention for its focus on the creation of stakeholder value.
In the intervening time, the COVID-19 pandemic has created major legal
challenges for every business. In this
presentation, we will offer some observations about the original Business
Roundtable statement and then shift to the business, legal, and ethical challenges to
managers in the current context, in which the COVID-19 pandemic requires businesses to
make hard choices about their interactions with stakeholders while simultaneously seeking to maintain their long-term
viability.
