In Person CLE
Program:
Come join us for an
in-depth discussion about the modern family as it relates to family court with a
focus on the cultural and gender-related issues that we are seeing more often.
Esteemed speakers Jack DeWalt, John Jerabek, Mary Pat Byrn, and Hennepin County
Referee Jason Hutchison will discuss how we define “family” within family court,
especially given Hennepin County's cultural diversity. Bischoff v. Vedder will
kick off the conversation, which will include gender-related issues that present
themselves in family court.
Additional issues to be discussed include
same-sex parentage and custody, how to present cases to the Bench involving
transitioning children and/or parents within a custody dispute, and how families
are viewed within juvenile court. The ultimate goal will be to address and
discuss what lessons family court can learn to assist in keeping up with the
ever-changing shape of the modern family.
Cash bar, however, food will be provided
with your registration.
Remote attendance is
not available.
