Document and workflow automations offer key benefits of a)
better efficiency, b) reduction of errors, and c) preservation of law firm
know-how. These oft-cited benefits are only attainable if you know how to use
the systems that generate these automations. In this nuts and bolts session,
we’ll cover some of the basic functionality of so-called no-code legal
applications. What’s a ‘variable’? A ‘conditional’? How have law firms adopted
these platforms for internal law firm operations and for client-facing delivery
of legal services? Two leaders in this industry will demonstrate key features of
these tools and demonstrate how law firms are using them.
Presenters:
Thomas Officer leads design at Afterpattern (formerly,
Community.Laywer), a low-code / no-code platform for building document and
workflow automations. Thomas was also a Design Fellow at Blue Ridge Labs @ Robin
Hood, a UX designer at FoundationLab, and a securities law analyst at
CrowdCheck.
Dorna Moini is the CEO and co-founder of Documate, a no-code
platform for building document automation and client-facing legal applications.
Prior to starting Documate, Dorna was a litigator at Sidley Austin. There, in
her pro bono practice, she worked with legal aid organizations to build a web
application for domestic violence survivors to complete and file their
paperwork, which led to the idea for Documate. Dorna is on the Legal Services
Corporation (LSC) Emerging Leaders Council and a member of the Legal Aid
Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA)'s Advisory Board. She was named an ABA Legal
Rebel and a Fastcase
50 honoree.
