Description:
Lawyers practicing
in-house or for the government face particular challenges – you’re seen as a
confidant, an advisor, and a business partner. The easy and daily access
to the legal department also increases the ability to develop friendships with
the people in your organization. As a result of this environment, it is
easy for the lines of the attorney’s role to blur and create client confusion as
to how and when they are asking for and receiving legal advice, and for the
attorney to help the individual understand that the attorney represents the
organization and not the individual. This session will explore these
complex interactions, how technology has further blurred the lines and
complicated the ability of lawyers to protect privileged conversations with
business leaders, and offer sound best practices to help both you and your
client understand the role and limitations of the Attorney/Client
Privilege.
