Legal
Business as Usual is our bi-weekly legal news webcast. We log in as
early as 7:30 AM and the 'formal' interview begins at
8:00 AM. We typically wrap between 8:45 and 9:00
AM.
We'll take a look at two new lawyer-related wellness
studies with their authors, Joan Bibelhausen of Lawyers for Concerned for
Lawyers and Patrick Krill of Krill Strategies:
- Stress and Resiliency in the US
Judiciary, a comprehensive report published in the 2020 Journal of The
Professional Lawyer on Dec. 23, 2020, surveyed more than 1,000 judges across
the US, showing one-third or more report fatigue and low energy, sleep
disturbance or disturbed attention and concentration.
- Patrick Krill's study of 2,863
attorneys compiled during the pandemic found that depression symptoms, anxiety
and stress were higher among female respondents, and a larger percentage of
women than men were and engaging in risky or hazardous
drinking.
