Hear from two attorneys who are
unfortunately well-versed in the need for attorney safety and what actions can
be taken to better protect yourself, staff, and firm. Ms. Terri Melcher is a
family law attorney who was the victim of a vicious assault by an opposing
party. Mr. James Gempeler is a criminal defense attorney whoose law clerk was
murdered at the office while all the attorneys were at court hearings. They will
share their experiences, how it changed them, and what they've learned in
assessing and mitigating potential risks. The presentation will also
discuss Rules of Professional Responsibility 1.6 regarding disclosures of
information to others for their protection. During such tumultuous times where random acts
of violence are not as random as they used to be, attorney safety
has never been more
important.
