Program
Description:
As a
group, turtles are some of the most imperiled vertebrates in the world, with
approximately 60% of turtles being threatened or already extinct. The
presentation will provide a high-level overview of the global turtle extinction
crisis, before transitioning to information related to general turtle biology,
Minnesota's turtle fauna, existing statutes and regulations, and new turtle
conservation efforts, including a renewed effort at the legislature to eliminate
commercial turtle harvest in Minnesota.
