by 9:30 AM on September 9.
To date, about 28% of
Minnesotan households have yet to be counted for purposes of the U.S. 2020
Census. These numbers include historically undercounted communities, such as
immigrant communities. On August 3, the U.S. Census Bureau announced its field
data collecting will close on September 30, 2020, a month early. Outreach
efforts have been hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic. Litigation is pending that
challenges a memorandum issued in July by the Trump administration to exclude
undocumented persons from the Census count. The Census outcome will determine
how federal funds are distributed over the next decade and the number of
congressional districts in each state. We are in the last push to get folks
counted! Presenters will cover topics including local census outreach efforts
and challenges, the status of litigation, and how to ensure our clients are
counted.
